Project Type: New Carpark Canopy Construction
About this Project
Overview
Westfab Welding was contracted to deliver a structural steel solution for a new drive-through carpark canopy at Woolworths Secret Harbour. Designed to improve shopper convenience and weather protection, the new canopy provides overhead coverage across the length of the store’s entry-side parking bays.
This high-visibility commercial project involved 28 tonnes of structural steel and required a tight installation schedule to align with operational trading hours and safety regulations.
Scope of Work
- Full shop fabrication of structural trusses and support columns
- Supply and delivery of 28 tonnes of structural steel
- On-site erection of steel framing with integrated bracketry
- Coordination with other trades for roofing and electrical services
- Rigorous QA to meet commercial structural standards
Challenges & Execution
Working within an active shopping precinct demanded careful staging and coordination. Our team implemented strict safety controls and operated outside of peak retail hours to minimise disruption.
The custom-designed trusses required precision fabrication to fit pre-engineered bolt locations on the existing facade. All elements were preassembled for fast crane installation, reducing site time and public inconvenience.
Outcome
The completed canopy structure was installed on time and met all engineering and commercial compliance requirements. Woolworths now benefits from an improved customer experience and safer entry points, backed by Westfab’s signature workmanship.
This project highlights our capacity to deliver on commercial construction projects with professionalism, safety, and attention to detail in high-traffic environments.
