Railmats
- Client: Railmats
Location: Nifty, Western Australia
Tonnage: 12 Tonnes
Project Type: Rail Infrastructure Fabrication
About this Project
Overview
Westfab Welding was commissioned to fabricate a set of high-strength, curved steel railmats for deployment at a remote site in Nifty, Western Australia. These specialised mats are designed to provide stable track support and impact resistance in heavy-duty transport zones—particularly in mining and industrial rail systems.
The job required precision fabrication, consistent curvature accuracy, and heavy welding output—all delivered to the highest standards within a tight turnaround.
Scope of Work
- Custom fabrication of 12 tonnes of structural curved railmats
- MIG and arc welding to strict QA and engineering drawings
- Pre-assembly, dimensional QA, and final packaging for remote shipping
- Surface finishing and coating in corrosion-resistant protective seal
Project Highlights
- Delivered on time to support a critical rollout for mining logistics
- Achieved consistent arch profiles across all mats, reducing on-site levelling work
- All welds inspected and compliant with AS/NZS structural steel standards
- Transport logistics arranged for remote regional WA delivery
Why It Matters
These railmats are essential in protecting infrastructure from wear and deformation in high-load transit areas. Our attention to detail and ability to fabricate complex curves with uniform precision gave the client full confidence in their product longevity and fit-for-purpose performance.
