About this Project

Overview

Westfab Welding was contracted to deliver the complete structural steel package for a new-build terminal facility in Eneabba, a remote location in Western Australia’s Mid West region. The project involved over 15 tonnes of steel, fabricated to support structural walls, trusses, purlins, and external shade elements.

The client required a supplier who could manage fabrication to exacting standards, coordinate remote delivery, and provide efficient on-site installation to meet a strict construction schedule.

Scope of Work

• Fabrication of all structural steel framing for the terminal building
• Supply and install of prefabricated roof trusses and structural purlins
• Site welding, bolt-ups, and final alignment of steel frames
• Custom steel support frames for external doorways and facade penetrations
• Coordination with concrete panel erection and baseplate anchoring
• All welding performed to AS/NZS 1554 standards, with inspection-ready QA documentation

Execution & Challenges

Remote logistics and limited site access added complexity to this build. All steel was fabricated off-site and delivered in pre-assembled sections to reduce lift time and site congestion.

Westfab coordinated directly with the builder’s site team to sequence installation around precast concrete panel erection. Temporary bracing and accurate steel placement were critical to ensuring the structure’s stability during staging.

Despite extreme weather during install, the work remained on track and was delivered without delays or rework.

Outcomes

The terminal building steel package was delivered ahead of schedule, with clean, high-tolerance finishes and full compliance with engineering documentation. Our team’s ability to mobilise in remote WA, manage logistical complexity, and install with precision made this project a strong demonstration of Westfab’s regional capability.
